Lacing Shapes

My sister gave me a great idea and a bunch of photo mats one day. Lacing Shapes. Simple and easy. Here's how I did it:
Get something sturdy and somewhat thick...like the photo mats.

Trace a shape on them.

Cut them out with either scissors or an exacto knife.

Draw little dots on your shapes appox. where you want your holes to go. (no, mine are NOT even.)

Using either a drill/bit or a paper punch, make your holes.

I tried the drill and it ripped my paper pretty good in some spots...be careful.
I have a three hole punch that I used on most of the holes and it was easy as pie, but harder to know exactly where to line it up. Oh well, a hole is a hole. :o)

Then tie a ribbon, shoe string, or something of the sort on to one hole. Burn the ends if using ribbon to seal them nicely. Then give them plenty of ribbon to lace it any which way you want.

Told ya it was easy!

  1. cool! you should invest in a crop-a-dile someday...the holes might have been easier then.
