Basic (EASY!) Purse

Here's the story: This purse is pretty easy. Very basic. I want you to TRY this if you are new to sewing. Your favorite little girl/s will love it. And it DOESN'T have to look professional. Nice, but it's okay to not be pro because your darlings will love it anyways. Mine did. We aren't going to be doing any hems, casings, or craziness. I didn't even use pins. Straight stitches. And the good news is that if you don't have a sewing machine, this is easy enough to do by hand. (Just takes a bit longer).
..........
What you need:
A piece of denim in somewhat of a square or rectangular shape.
Flannel
Ribbon

Here are some different examples of denim that I have. Sew some squares together, use the top half of some bibs, or a back pocket. Whatever works here.

Lay your denim over your flannel to use as a pattern. Cut it to shape. (You can cut an extra 1/2 inch all the way around if you were to want to fold it under for a clean edge.)

Now takethe flannel and sew a zig zag across the top, right next to the edge. Then trim the strings.

Then decide how long you want your ribbon handle to be. Add 2 inches to the length. Place the one end of the ribbon between the two pieces of your purse (wrong sides facing each other) close to the edge. Sew over it with a zig zag ( or go back and forth a few times) to secure it in place.

Next you are going to start and the top of the purse and sew down the two sides. This way it doesn't pucker funny. Then do the bottom. I did mine with a zig zag stich to secure it really good.

Now you have a fun little purse that your girly will love!
It wasn't too bad was it?

Today was a bad hair day for all three of us girls. Guess that's what happens when mom's hibernating in the craft room. ;o)
