Little girl's skirt and bow
Sorry no pictures for this. Made it before I decided to do tuts.
So find and old shirt you don't want anymore, but would make a cute little girls skirt.
Measure how long you want the skirt to be. Mine was about 15". Measure from the bottom of the shirt up 15" (adjust for your height) and add about 1.5" for elastic casing. Cut shirt straight across. Now this is easy because the sides and the bottom are already sewn so all we have to do is the top. Fold the top under 1/4" and then another 1.25". Sew all the way around forming a casing for the elastic, but leave about 3-4" to pull the elastic through. Stick a safety pin on the end of the elastic (which by the way should be the length of her waist) and slide it through the casing. Sew the elastic together when it is all through and sew the casing shut.
Skirt done.
Matching bow? Why not!
Cut a strip of material 3xlong? inches wide from your shirt. I used the length of my sleeve. Now make a long basting stitch right down the middle. Pull the thread to gather it up into a little floof or flower - whichever you like. Have too much material? Just cut it down to size you like. Then make a few stitches in the bottom of your floofy flower to hold it in place. Attach a clip and battaboom your done!
