Tinker Bell Costume

My little girl eats off of this mat everyday. She has never watched the movie, but for some reason she LOVES Tink. She is a cute little fairy. So of course when I asked her TWO month ago what she wanted to be for Halloween, she told me Tinkerbell.

I debated buying one of those frilly costume dresses, but couldn't suck it up and buy one for $20. Sorry - I am a CLEARANCE shopper. So I went hunting for items to make her a costume. Oh yeah, I wanted it to be cute, but not too frilly because Tinkerbell isn't all that frilly. (See place mat?) Although I do think those little poofy dresses are AdOrAbLe. Anyhow - I spent a whooping $5 dollars on this costume. Got some shorts and a little tank at KMart for $1.50 each. Cut the bottom of the shorts off and then cut zig zags to make it ragged.

And I didn't have to do a thing to the top because it already has a little ruffle at the top.

Now I will have to make another post to show you the finished product because I realized I didn't take a picture. BUT, I found green wings and little green fairy shoes at the dollar store. I already had some green tulle so I made a very thin tutu just to add a little something something to the skirt. It's cute. And she LOVES it. Costumes don't have to be spendy or really time consuming. Try finding already made items such as these and revamping them to work for you. :o)
